Truck Accidents – Physical and Psychological Factors

Truck Accidents – Physical and Psychological Factors

In many accidents, the driver is at fault. And not only because he made the wrong decision at the wrong time, but because they didn’t considered his shortcoming upfront. The psychological and physical conditions of the driver are as important as the truck.

Most companies, and even most drivers only care about the maintenance of the truck and disregard the well-being of the driver. This is an extremely counterproductive strategy, since a bad driver can cost thousands and thousands more than a broken truck. A simple truck accident implies not only repairing the truck, but losing the load and paying more insurance for the truck the next year.

At a glance these are:

Pains in the back and joints (legs, hands and arms) due to long hours of driving sometimes bumpy roads or using inadequate seat

Disturbances in the digestive tract because of irregular habits, improper dietary habits and stress

Lack of attentions during periods of drowsiness and psychic disorders caused by factors of mental and emotional stress

Smoking inside the cabin can cause explosion risk and contributes to the deterioration of health

Visual discomfort and eye problems because of inadequate illumination and eyestrain (especially when driving in the dark or in areas long distance)

Development of lumbago due to inadequate vehicle suspension, uncomfortable seat, etc

Psychological discomfort as a result of permanent control by cell phone or computer

Exposure to loud noise for long hours (> 80 dBA) or low frequency, with short-term adverse effects (headache) or long term (decreased hearing)

Exposure to ionizing radiation while transporting radioisotopes (frequently kept, for safety reasons in the driver’s cab)

Exposure to ultraviolet radiation (sunlight) directly and reflected

Exposure to climatic factors potentially harmful to health, such as extreme cold or heat, or combinations of temperature, humidity and wind can cause frostbite or heat stroke

Exposure to sudden changes in temperature in and out of the car pool, which can cause colds and rheumatism

Vibrations affecting the whole body and possible effects on the functions of abdominal and chest and musculoskeletal system, causing fatigue and slow reactions

Understand and use safe techniques for lifting and handling heavy loads. Avoid inhaling exhaust gases to. Use sunglasses to drive, when needed. Protect hands with gloves or use a cream-resistant barrier when using chemicals. Install an ergonomically designed driver’s seat; stop driving regularly to rest and exercise, learning relaxation techniques to use when driving for long periods. Avoid smoking while driving.…

The reason why whole food supplements have started quickly gaining popularity is because many people are finally beginning to educate themselves on the supplements they’re taking and how their bodies process them. As a certified herbalist, and a student of this science for over 14 years, I have come to realize that eating healthy means eating foods that are rich in natural nutrients that come from planet earth to nourish our bodies. Shaklee offers a terrific line of children’s vitamins, nutritionals and other child care products to ensure that your child gets the quality nutrition in a safe and effective manner.\n\nMost foods contain a very small percentage of the vitamins and minerals they would provide in their natural form. Some believe synthetic vitamins are toxic in nature and a major cause of chemical imbalances in our bodies. As a dietary supplement take 4 tablets per day with food or on an empty stomach.\n\nSimply use the Paleo Diet as a comparative guide to nutritional supplements. This is the process you want to look for in any health supplement today, because they provide the best health benefits out there. We should cook healthy foods – a lot of vegetables and fruits.\n\nCofactors within nature’s foods (which are found also in whole food supplements) include, but are not limited to: vitamins, minerals, terpenes, trace mineral activators, enzymes, co-enzymes, chlorophyll, lipids, essential fatty acids, fiber, carotenoids, antioxidants, flavonoids, pigments, amino acids, whole proteins and more.\n\nIf your objective is optimum health, it is important to make sure you eat fruits and vegetables which have been freshly picked. Are Frozen Or Canned Foods Better For You Than Fresh Ones?

Are Frozen Or Canned Foods Better For You Than Fresh Ones?

Yes fresh fruits and vegetables are more nutritious for you that the frozen and canned type. Well I guess that would be correct if you counted the instance you picked them. But I researched this question that I get very often. And I have found that the foods you find in the produce section most times have had a long journey to get to where you see them. Yes, they have been freshly picked but then they are packed into crates, where they spend many days or weeks getting to you from the farm or the orchard. Now I ask you, do they stay fresh? Well, of course not, I have found during this transit or storage many natural enzymes are lost in your, so called, fresh fruits or fresh vegetables. Thus, I now know they lose valuable nutrients. Not a good thing. Let us discuss the frozen and canned fruit portion of this article.

What would preserve much of your vitamins and mineral content in your fruits and vegetables? Well, I believe that, by contrast, when your fresh picked produce are put in a quick freeze, most of your expected vitamins and mineral content are still in tact. Take for instance frozen beans; well did you know that frozen beans retain twice as much vitamin C as the fresh beans that you and I purchase to the super market? Now get this, contrary to common belief, I can now tell you with certainty that canning does not hurt fruit or vegetables, to any degree, when you think about the amounts of nutrients.

Now while processing certain canned foods with heat may reduce some levels of vitamins, in certain canned foods, such as spinach and pumpkin you might find vitamin A levels to be higher than with the fresh versions.

I will give you that as far as taste goes you will never mistake frozen fruits for fresh ones. But the technology in freezing foods has greatly closed the gap relative to tastes, too. I actually prefer using the frozen version of foods while cooking. I defy you to tell the difference. Once again, Fresh foods are not better for your health than the frozen and canned variety. Eat well to be healthy.…

Carb Nutrition And Whole Food Supplements Work Far Better

Super vitamins are the new kid on the block in the field of Nutrigenomics. Therefore we are partnered with a company with a 40-year history; we have chosen to only sell products that create a real difference in the health and safety of those who purchase them – whether that was fire detectors that saved people’s lives in the ’70s, purifiers that cleaned people’s air and water in the ’80s or nutritional products and food-growing systems that enhance people’s health and well-being today, but we’ll get to that later.\n\nMost foods contain a very small percentage of the vitamins and minerals they would provide in their natural form. Some believe synthetic vitamins are toxic in nature and a major cause of chemical imbalances in our bodies. As a dietary supplement take 4 tablets per day with food or on an empty stomach.\n\nThus it is recommended that health conscious individuals get their omega 3’s this way – by mixing fish oil into their foods, or taking gel supplement capsules. Numerous studies conducted, have proven that the intake of isolated vitamin pills and supplements does not function as effectively as complete natural vitamin intake and is not efficiently utilized in the body.\n\nAnother healthy ingredient that an organic whole food vitamin supplement should include will be antioxidants. Incredivites contain a full day’s supply of Vitamin C, all the B vitamins and Vitamin D along with Vitamin, trace minerals and Vitamin K for a healthy balanced nutritional intake.\n\nWhen we do eat these foods, they’re usually processed, overcooked or have been sitting in storage for too long and are missing a lot of the nutritional value of fresh, raw produce. Eating vegetables is an easy way to help a poor diet become healthier again.…

Autism And Nutrition

A healthy diet is important to having a healthy pregnancy. Fats are the carbon and hydrogen atoms in our food, structuring hydrogenation. These are lower in calories and carbohydrates, so will still provide you with some, but won’t have you overdoing it and not seeing fat loss progress as a result. Fitness & nutrition go hand in hand, pointless doing all that hard work then going home to eat the wrong food.\n\nThere is nothing I am more certain about in my life as to the importance of treating your body with respect. Fibromyalgia is aggravated by caffeine, sugar, fried foods, alcohol, red meat, and highly processed foods. Over time, there has been a decrease in the vitamins present in soil due to environmental changes; so increasing your vegetable intake will help overcome that drop in content and improve your vitamin nutrition.\n\nEat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and eat five to six smaller meals periodically throughout the day. Include non-red-meat proteins to your diet frequently, such as chicken or turkey breast, fish, soy, beans, and lentils. Many times, the FDA allows them to advertise their food is trans fat free, even though it contains significant amounts of this deadly fat.

What Are Whole Food Supplements And What Are The Benefits They Offer?

It is important to know that 95% of supplements on the market are synthetic, i.e. they are created in a lab. You will find that regular synthetic vitamins cost less on the shelf but since you are only getting 10% of their value, in the end, you will find that vitamins made with whole foods are a much better choice. Whole food supplements are made from organic, animal and plant tissues.\n\nMulti-nutrient supplements that contain organic whole food vitamins therefore have just the correct amount of beneficial ingredients. These phytonutrients are just a few examples of natural molecules known to aid in promotion of health and make the case for the use of Whole Food Supplements.\n\nAlso, synthetic vitamin supplements often contain other additives and dyes. On the other hand, synthetic vitamins contain no trace minerals and are forced to use your body’s already existing resources and mineral reserves to perform like the whole food, natural supplements.\n\nAs our diet has changed from an agrarian society’s nutrient rich food supply to the urbanized highly processed, artificial foods, our total food consumption has risen. Whole foods are more than the sum of the nutrients they contain. During the 4 years of the study, researchers found that the closer people followed the so called “Mediterranean diet”, the less likely they were to die from either heart disease or cancer.\n\nThe best multivitamin has real food sources such as vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices that still have all the nutrients in the real food – not just a blend of vitamins and minerals. The efficacy of many of these synthetic zinc supplements is questionable. We use only whole foods as a source of vitamins in our Optimal 2 Whole Food Vitamin • Mineral supplement.…

Chanting of the Chuckwill’s Widow

Chanting of the Chuckwill’s Widow

Has mankind always been wrong about the moon, or does that orb have powers for good or ill (chiefly the latter) second only to those of that master of our sub-universe, the sun? Any dictionary suggests the story with such terms as moon blasted, moon-sick, moon-struck, lunatic, and so on. Poets have abundantly sung of the influence of the moon upon lovers and we popularly recognize it by calling them loony or moony. That the moon has definite biological effects is shown by the spawning periodicity of the Hawaiian palolo and the California grunion. It may be argued that these are secondary, the primary influence being through the tides. But there is no tidal effect in the moon-synchronized blooming of Morea flowers, the changes in electric potential of a maple tree, the feeding of screech owls, and the chanting of the chuckwill’s widow.

Without subscribing to the cult that deems the success of all plantings dependent upon the sign of the moon, we may admit as a minimum that there is considerable evidence of lunar influence upon organisms. As to effects upon man, there is much chaff to winnow but little grain to glean. The literature is chiefly medical and deals mostly with the alleged relation of the moon to epilepsy, hysteria, fevers, and night blindness. Treatises up to book length have been devoted to the thesis that fevers are connected with, and affected by, the revolutions of the moon. That Hypothesis, however, gets little credence now. Nightblindness and day-blindness have been discussed so long and so ineptly that the meanings of these terms and their technical equivalents have become hopelessly confused.

Thus, savants having been not too successful in the study of lunar influence upon the human race, it may be just as well to consider the testimony of a few laymen. As to blindness, Cuthbert Collingwood (Rambles of a Naturalist, 1868:309-310) reported that: “A sailor lad 18 years of age after sleeping in the direct rays of the moon, for about a month could not see by moonlight, and narrowly escaped serious injury from falling. However, between decks and in daylight, or even in dark before the moon rose, he saw as well a9 ever.” It is said that sailors very generally fear some such evil effect and that they throw a cloth over the face of any man found sleeping in the moonlight.

As to moon stroke or the like, I have been able to find only the evidence of Richard Burton, the famed adventurer and writer. While still a Lieutenant he published books on his experiences and findings in India. In The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night” (1885-1888, 2:4), he wrote: “Easterners still believe in the blighting effect of the moon’s rays, which the Northerners of Europe, who view it under different conditions, are pleased to deny.…

Vitamin Supplements VS Whole Foods

There are major differences between a typical supplement and an organic whole food vitamin supplement. Because of this only approximately 10% of synthetic vitamins are actually absorbed into the body. These are not synthetic (made in the lab) vitamins. Whole food supplements aim to be as close to the natural as possible, helping your body to absorb and utilize as much of the nutritional vitamin and mineral content as possible.\n\nAs a certified herbalist, and a student of this science for over 14 years, I have come to realize that eating healthy means eating foods that are rich in natural nutrients that come from planet earth to nourish our bodies. Shaklee offers a terrific line of children’s vitamins, nutritionals and other child care products to ensure that your child gets the quality nutrition in a safe and effective manner.\n\nThis simple system allows you to get whole food nutrition without any need for additional supplements. This belief is erroneous because the producers of supplement do not intend them to be food substitutes simply because they do not contain all the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients found in whole foods.\n\nThis is a much more natural and beneficial method of obtaining nutrition from food and herbal supplements alike. Nutrients from isolated vitamins and supplements are not adequate for our dietary requirements because they lack the cofactors and micronutrients needed and are not recognized by our bodies as food.\n\nMost are not whole food vitamins. Multivitamins with ingredients such as celery, asparagus or bell pepper can be an effective way to relax and sleep. You cannot get vitamins and minerals from a Pepsi or a Twinkie. Most of us know that the orange is a great food source of Vitamin C. The reason is that every other substance in the orange works synergistically with the Vitamin C in the body for maximum absorption.…

The Role of Vitamin C in Your Supplement Program

The Role of Vitamin C in Your Supplement Program

Whether its part of a multivitamin or one of those orange flavored chewables, a lot of Vitamin C gets consumed in the United States every year. Most of it is taken during the fall and winter, when weather conditions cause us to remain in doors and in close proximity for extended lengths of time. This should arouse some questions in your mind. Is it safe? Is it effective? Does it interact with any medications? Can I take too much? If so, what will happen? Here are a few answers to these questions.

1) Is it safe? In normal supplement amounts, Vitamin C is safe. It is a water soluble vitamin, so most of the time what you don’t need isn’t stored in your body, it’s excreted.

2) Is it effective? To prevent colds or get you over them really. Oh, if you are under extreme stress, say you’re competing in an Iron Man contest, it may cut the likelihood of catching one. Unfortunately, the rest of us won’t see much of a benefit. Drinking the juice will do more good, as it provides your body with extra fluids.

3) Does it interact with other medications? Yes, it does. NSAIDs (like aspirin, Tylenol, etc.), birth control pills, barbiturates, some heart medications, chemotherapy drugs, some types of antacids, protease inhibitors, some antibiotics and Coumodin (also known as warfarin). If you take any medications, speak to your doctor before taking a C supplement.

4) Can I take too much? Yes and no. An occasional overdose won’t be much of a problem, as it gets excreted. You may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a headache and other symptoms, but once the excess amounts have been eliminated, these disappear. Continual overdoses can cause problems bigger problems. One of them is kidney damage. It is advisable that you stay within the normal parameters suggested on the label.

If you have questions about how much Vitamin C you should take, speak to your doctor. You may also be referred to a nutritionist, who can help you plan a diet that will meet all of your nutrition needs. It’s a good idea to tell both the doctor and the nutritionist about your medical background. This includes any medical conditions you have an any medications or supplements you take. This can help prevent side effects and harmful drug/herb interactions.…

Nutrition and physical fitness go hand in hand as part of a complete fitness program.
