Let’s face it. Visiting the dentist is almost no one’s idea of a good time. It’s a necessary thing that every person must do to take care of both their oral and overall health. Great oral health is great for both a person’s overall health and their self-esteem.

When you go to the dentist, you don’t really know what they are doing in there. Hopefully, you feel better after they are done, but do you really understand the procedures they are performing on your teeth? This very phenomenon is why there are a number of dentists out there who charge for services they aren’t providing.

Are you sure your dentist is being honest with you? If you aren’t, here are some signs you can be vigilant for that could indicate your dentist is taking advantage of you.

Signs Your Dentist Isn’t Being Honest

– Constant Expensive Treatments – Is your new dentist ordering up a list of expensive dental treatments everytime you go? If they are, this could be a bad sign. This is especially true if you have a good history when it comes to your oral health. Get a second opinion if your dentist is ordering up a ton of treatments seemingly out of nowhere.

– Deep Teeth Cleaning – This is also referred to as root planting. The treatment is reserved for people with extreme gum problems and other issues. If you aren’t experiencing any of these, you don’t need deep teeth cleaning and your dentist shouldn’t be prescribing it.

– Specials – An occasional discount is one thing, but beware of dentists that offer up outlandish deals on initial visits. These can often be used as a strategy to get potential patients in the door, then prescribe a litany of expensive treatments.
